As Ireland works towards economic recovery, it is vital that future development is sustainable and grounded by scientific knowledge. In this context, the EPA’s National Research Conference will highlight key outputs from EPA-funded research and demonstrate their application to delivering a sustainable Ireland.

The event will be opened by John Gormley, TD (Minister for Environment, Heritage and Local Government) and Dr Mary Kelly (EPA Director General) and the keynote speech will be given by Miranda Kavanagh (Director of Evidence at the UK Environment Agency), who will address the role of science and research in underpinning environmental policies.

A series of parallel sessions will then examine key environmental issues within the framework of sustainable future development:

  • Planning for a New Ireland
  • Protecting our Natural Resources
  • Emerging Environment and Health Issues
  • Advances in Water and Wastewater Management
  • Research Supporting Better Regulation
  • Greening Irish Enterprise

This programme will be complemented by poster displays to further showcase ongoing work.
