Celtic Couples Challenge

Carr Golf Travel is delighted with the success of the Inaugural Couples Event which was staged at The K Club and Doonbeg Golf Club in 2010.

The inaugural event hosted 24 teams from US, India, Canada, UK and Ireland for four fantastic days of golf in stunning Irish sunshine. Ireland treated the couples to a spectacular event which combined great comraderie, the best in 5 star Irish hospitality and accommodation with some of the world’s best golf courses. We all managed to have a bit of Craic, especially in Comerfords Pub in Doonbeg. The weather co-operated spectacularly.

The event was won by Fran Koerner and Chris Owens (US) on a count back with Bruce and Barbara Baker long term friends of the Carr family from San Francisco Golf Club (US) who both tied on 108 points. The winners had the highest one day score with 39 points at Doonbeg.

Having hosted the legendary World Invitational Father & Son Golf Tournament for over twenty years and with our World Invitational Father & Daughter Golf Tournament now coming into its 4th year, we were delighted that the Celtic Couples Challenge was so quickly recognized as a great opportunity to come together for a great Irish Golf Experience.

The 2011 Celtic Couples Challenge will be played in Betterball Stableford format over three tournament rounds at Adare Golf Club (the Robert Trent Jones Sr. Golf Course), Ballybunion Golf Club and Tralee Golf Club. The practice round will be played at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, home of the 2010 Irish Open.

The Aghadoe was chosen for its sumptous 5 star accommodations and also for its awardwinning spa. It has the most beautiful views overlooking the Lakes of Killarnney and is just outside the "happening" town of Killarney.

Adare Manor was chosen for its fantastic accommodations, magnificent golf course, proximity to the two magnificent Links venues and also its close proximity to Shannon Airport. The Manor is located in one of the most beautiful scenic villages in Ireland with fantastic restaraunts, pubs and shops.
