In light of recent events regarding the social unrest among young people up
and down the country, my newly-formed film company BREDRIN
FILMWORKS has decided to launch an exciting and innovative film & music
initiative entitled PROJECT POSTCODE.
This project is the brainchild of award-winning writer and educational
consultant Mark Straker of registered charity positivestrides.org.uk who
has an extensive track record of helping disengaged young people turn their
lives around. One of his previous projects - entitled PUKKA (Peer
Understanding Knowing Knowledge Attitude) - reduced the crime rate on a
local council estate in Hertfordshire by 18% and won awards both locally,
nationally and internationally.

Project Postcode will engage, motivate and inspire young people by
providing training, learning and work placements on a real feature film.
Through effective short taster workshops and master classes, young people
will be trained and educated by established people within the film industry.
Project Postcode specifically targets disadvantaged young people with
diverse needs such as social and economic deprivation, young people from
minority ethnic backgrounds, those in danger of becoming homeless and
those not in education, employment and training. These groups are often
socially excluded from mainstream learning opportunities at both higher and
further education institutions.
I am really excited by this project, particularly after the recent negative
events that have been brought to the nation’s attention. We want to get all
communities and businesses in Reading working together for a common goal:
to ensure that there is a thriving future workforce for Berkshire and the UK
as a whole.
