‘Relax and be Entertained’
Ictopus, the leading online support service for Primary education, and EventElephant, the innovative online product for event organisers, are teaming up to facilitate a major fundraising drive for schools
LONDON, United Kingdom – 25th April 2009
Ictopus and EventElephant today announced a joint initiative involving hundreds of schools throughout the UK during the first two weeks of June. The partnership will give pupils the means and the support to not only organise a network of coffee mornings for parents but also to present a programme of plays and light entertainment.
The main aims are to;

Raise money for selected charities or for the schools own fund

Encourage year 5/6 Primary school pupils to interact with and embrace web technology in a fun and rewarding environment

Put into practice the Government’s parental engagement strategies
|

Generate positive national publicity and local community participation
|

Help schools to implement recommendations from Sir Jim Rose’s Primary Curriculum Review

With the ‘Relax and be Entertained’ events the kids will be the stars of the show. They will plan, promote and organise a thirty minute show for their parents including a show stopping five minute mini-drama, ‘Strictly Come Pirating’
There will be minimal teacher involvement and the pupils will use EventElephant’s web tools to create a website for their event and to email invitations to their parents. The pupils will also visit the ictopus website to source scripts and stage directions, event ideas and lesson plans.
