For the first time in more than 10 years, the Niger Delta is not only dominating international news, it is also making positive headlines. This follows the success of the federal government’s amnesty programme and the promise of peace and security for businesses to thrive. This development has coincided with the period of heightened interest in the oil and gas resources of the Gulf of Guinea region for which the Niger Delta is a key component.

To take advantage of this opportunity in Nigeria’s 50th anniversary year, NewsAfrica magazine and Business Council for Africa (BCA) are holding an international Conference on “Peace in the Niger Delta: Opportunities for Nigeria’s Partners”, at The Waldorf Hilton in central London on 19 -20 May 2010.

The conference aims to take advantage of the success of the Nigerian government’s amnesty programme to bring together key stakeholders in Nigeria and the international business community to explore the opportunities opened up by the emergence of peace in the Niger Delta after years of militant activity. At the conclusion of the conference a donation will go to the charity “Support for Africa”.

The conference will incorporate the first Niger Delta Investment Forum to be held outside Nigeria also an opportunity to meet several of the Niger Delta State Governors and key Ministers and NNPC Officials at a conference dinner and networking events.
