Mapping the Underworld (MTU) – Runs throughout day one and two
Many mobile data projects in local government, civil engineering, and utilities involve the delivery of map data on buried plant. This data comes from various sources, and is often unreliable or incomplete. MTU is a large multi agency project dedicated to solving the problems of bringing this data together in to a coherent and reliable view of the underworld. If they succeed the benefits to our infrastructure and its maintenance will be significant. The data would logically be delivered to the field users on mobile devices and networks.
Prof Chris Rogers (or MTU team member) – University of Birmingham
