Clare Roots Society Genealogy and Family History Conference 2011
Clare Roots Society will host a Genealogy and Family History Conference at the Templegate Hotel Ennis Co Clare on Saturday, 1st October 2011.
The theme of the conference is "The Future of our Past".
Confirmed speakers for the Conference include
Dr Nick Barratt, Sticks Research Agency, London, whose talk is entitled 'Family History and the Media'. Nick will examine the way genealogy has been transformed over the last 5 years by TV and the Internet, going behind the scenes of programmes like Who Do You Think You Are to reveal how they are made, and the impact the shows have had on the way people research.
Gregory O'Connor, National Archives of Ireland, whose talk will focus on Legal and Court documents in Genealogy research.
Liam Curran, Ennis, who will speak on "The Irish Soldier in the British Army in the First World War".
John Grenham M.A ., M.A.P.G.I., F.I.G.R.S. whose talk is called "Jam Tomorrow: what's online and what's coming?"
Dr Jane Lyons, Co Laois based Genealogist, who will speak on "The importance of graveyards in Genealogy research"
Jim Herlihy, Cork, who will speak on "The Black and Tans and the Auxiliaries"
Antoinette O'Brien, Clare Heritage Centre, Corofin, who will talk about the Centre and its collection.
For the early arrivals there will be free genealogy sessions with experienced and professional genealogists at the Templegate Hotel between 4.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. on Friday 30th September
