Kevin has been called the ‘father of modern Irish comedy’. He first came to the nation’s attention with his famous ‘Nighthawks’ pieces on RTE back in the mists of the early 1990’s. Since then he has been writing and touring his succession of one-man shows around Ireland, the UK and the world, building up legions of loyal fans who keep coming back for more. He has influenced a whole generation of contemporary comedians in Ireland and the UK, from Stewart Lee to David O’Doherty.
His new show “2010 vintage” is his most hilarious and most original show ever- quite an accolade when you consider the twenty (very) odd years of comedy gems he has produced- from the legendary Nighthawks persona, to last year’s ‘Chalk & Cheese’ which won a prestigious Bloomsbury Award and toured the universe to boot.
McAleer’s enduring appeal is not based on TV exposure, but on pure word of mouth from highly satisfied customers.
