The Next Stage: Engage, Inspire, Create

Welcome to The Next Stage, the first Conference from The Ulster Association of Youth Drama.

This event, whose key themes are “Engage, Inspire, Create” aims to offer learning, best practice sharing and networking to those working directly in the Youth Drama sector in Northern Ireland, to those who want to explore the use of drama when working with young people and those studying for a career in the industry.

Who should attend:

The Next Stage is for anyone involved in or interested in the Youth Drama Sector in Northern Ireland, who works, or would like to work, with young people.  Youth Drama and Theatre Leaders and other Youth Leaders, Academics teaching drama at all levels, workshop facilitators, professional artists and performers, students pursuing a career in the drama sector, arts officers, community and voluntary groups, public sector support organisations will all benefit from attending.
Professional artists will learn new skills, leaders will get tips on how to use theatre and drama with their group, companies will gather operational information on marketing but everyone will have a chance to meet new people and share information

Through a varied programme of performance, keynote speakers, workshops and panel debate sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to share experiences whilst developing their skills base.

The Conference will also feature a Youth Theatre Forum open to all young people aged 16 plus who have an interest in arts, theatre and drama. An informal and open environment will offer the chance to learn practical skills whilst having your say about the work that UAYD and our Youth Forum do. We want you to be a part of developing the sector for the future and this is the opportunity for you to get involved!

UAYD is committed to leading a co-ordinated approach to the development of the sector stimulating good practice, growth in participation and audiences and we believe that face-to-face interaction is key to working together to achieve this.

I and the other members of the UAYD Board very much hope you can join us on the 29th at the Grand Opera House, Belfast to explore the Next Stage.
